Z624. Rare Hamilton Otis in Rare Green Gold Filled! This is one of the rarest and most unusual vintage wrist watches ever made. The unique case for this watch is designed to flip over so the dial is hidden, and only the back is visible, or can be flipped over to be worn like a regular watch, as you can see in these images. This particular case is green gold filled and does have a little brass. The green is subtle as is typical, but this is green, and is the rarest color in any vintage gold or gold filled watch. The brass is on the corners near the tips of the lug topss, and at the corners where the lug tops meet the main part of the case. If you look carefully you can see this in the image but it is not very noticeable in the image or in reality. There is only a tiny, tiny bit of brass on the back on two of the four corners. This is a pinprick at those spots. The case functions correctly and holds tight in either position. Initials are as shown. The crystal is plastic and has very light wear.

The black dial is very nice with some extremely faint scuffing visible after you take off the bezel. I have inspected the dial carefully with a loupe, and my opinion is the dial is original.

The movement is the 980 grade with 17 jewels. Movement is in nice condition. $2495

Z874. NOS Elgin Fancy Gold Filled Men's Watch. This fine and highly collectible vintage Elgin is new old stock with the original leather strap and price tag. This came to me from the estate of a jeweler-watchmaker who handled the Elgin line, and this is the last, and best, of the new old stock watches from that source. This model is from the late 1940s or early 1950s and is marked Elgin 19 on the dial. The dial is original and perfect with a cross-hatched gold and black pattern and black seconds bit (which also contains the durapower symbol). The original hour and minute hands are black to contrast with the gold pattern, and the original second hand is gold to contrast with the black seconds bit. GREAT dial!

The case is in new condition with no wear and with the original satin finish on the back. This watch does not have numerals on the dial, but instead, has markers on the bezel filled with black enamel. A tiny bit of this enamel has flaked out from age, but you will look very hard to see what I am talking about. The case has nice flared lugs and measures 24 mm x 37 mm.

The original strap is marked Elgin on the leather and Hadley, 1/20 10K GF on the buckle. The strap looks to me like it was used for a few days, maybe a week at the most.

The movement in this watch is a 21 jewel, 4 adjustment, Grade 559. When I received this watch, the original oil had gummed, so I have had this cleaned and oiled. Thus, it has a single cleaning mark in the case, and is ready to wear if you decide not to put it away as a mint example. $395
